Scenic Rim Eat Local Week
June 26 @ 8:00 am - July 4 @ 5:00 pm
Scenic Rim Eat Local Week showcases the people who produce food and wine in the Scenic Rim. The region, with its fertile alluvial soil, produces a bountiful selection of fruit and vegetables, wines, milk and gourmet products such as olives, cheeses, jams and relishes. Agriculture and tourism contribute $402-million to the regional economy and Eat Local Week is a celebration of the people whose hard work makes that possible.
Scenic Rim Eat Local Week asks visitors and Scenic Rim locals to consider their food and wine choices and recognise the vast array of products available on their doorstep. It also provides an insight into how our fresh food is produced.
This authentic food event connects consumers with farmers and highlights the benefits of sourcing food that’s in-season close to the source.
Scenic Rim Eat Local Week launched in 2011 and has grown in size and scale every year since.
It features plenty of free and low-cost activities for children and families, including farm tours, cooking classes, producer dinners and opportunities to meet the farmers and taste their wares.
The week culminates in the Winter Harvest Festival, Scenic Rim Eat Local Week’s signature event. It’s a celebration of food, wine and farming. There’s live music, fresh produce, cooking demonstrations and plenty of good old fashioned country hospitality.
Scenic Rim Eat Local Week and the Winter Harvest Festival are supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland, as part of a growing calendar of sporting, cultural, regional events throughout the state.
