Queen’s Baton Relay

April 1, 2018 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

We are planning a very special event to commemorate the Queens Baton Relay’s journey through the Scenic Rim.

You can view a selection of photographs from the Commonwealth Games Kid’s Baton Relay celebration (courtesy of Quanita Photography) here …

With a by-line ‘Inspiring the Dream’ this event will give young people in our community an opportunity to take place in our very own ‘Scenic Rim Baton Relay Event’. We are planning to run our very own baton over a route on Tamborine Mountain immediately following the official Queens Baton Relay, when students will be carrying country flags and our very own Black Bean baton.

This event will take place on Sunday 1st April, and be part of the celebrations planned for that day by the Scenic Rim Council. Come and see history in the making, and inspire and support our next generation of athletes.

Where: Main Street, Tamborine Mountain
When:  Sunday 1st April from 1.30pm – 4.30pm

The Scenic Rim Baton Relay – Inspiring the Dream! 1 April 2018

Not only will we host the Queen’s Baton Relay – the Scenic Rim is going to have its own!

The Scenic Rim Baton Relay is right after the Queen’s Baton relay and before the major Fires on the Mountain community event, so why not make a day of it?

The Baton Relay will involve 100 children from schools, community groups and sports associations. The Scenic Rim Baton Relay is proudly supported by the Scenic Rim CouncilCedar Creek Estate and Glow Worm Caves, Lemon Lovers Gelato and Cheese, The Professionals Real Estate, and of course the Chamber of Commerce.

If you want to know more or would like to be involved, go to www.commonwealthcommunity.org.
